If you thought the existence of The Tea Party, success of Glenn Beck and popularity of Miley Cyrus made America seem like country in crisis right now the view of the future in Shteyngart‘s Super Sad True Love Story is even more terrifying. It's set in the not-too-distant future, a place where books are dead, hotness is publicly rated and professionals compete for retail jobs...
Anyways I'm only half way through Super Sad True Love Story but I am deeply in love with it.
This video Gary Shteyngart made to promote the book probably does it a diservice (I think it's enormously unfunny though I can see where he was going). It's worth watching though to check out some of his celeb author friends in action like James Franco, Mary Gaitskill and Jeffrey Eugenides.
