Greg and Lucy Malouf are well known Australian authors who, although now divorced, still travel around the world creating amazing cook books together. Saraban is their latest offering and is the result of many months spent traveling through Iran. It is an outrageously beautiful book full of gold inks and expensive die cut paper that is part travel story, part photo essay but mostly just delicious recipes and stunning food styling.
This week I also got to check out the new Marilyn Monroe book, Fragments. Living or dead I truly believe this book to be every womans worst nightmare. Imagine for a moment, if you will, having all of your most self indulgent, non sensical, hyper dramatic and intensley personal ramblings reprinted, in your own hand writing, for the whole world to see.
Statements like, "I'm not very bright I guess" and, "Alone!!!! I am alone - I am always alone no matter what." Cringe, cringe, cringe. Poor Mazz.
The book includes diary entries, poems, letters, script notes and more angst and self loathing than you probably suffered through during your entire six years of secondary education.
I thought the high point were the snaps of book covers from her personal collection.
